Is downloading mouse pointers safe and free from spyware?

I want a new mouse pointer but i dont want any crazy viruses or any of that, so can any of you give me a good site to download from that doesnt have adware/spyware?

It's windows 2000 - I have a popup that keeps coming up that seems to be very aggressive. It is from antispystorm saying I have adware on my computer and do I want to do a scan. I've tried 2 antivirus programs and 3 spyware programs to see if I could catch it, but have been unable. Now my computer runs so slow that it takes 30 minutes to pull up any program.

I'm using Defender Pro antispam, firewall and virus protection. I also have McAfee. I used Spybot and AVG to find the spyware/malware-

If your computer is branded: HP, Dell etc, just stick in the quick restore cd that was shipped with it, follow the wizard and you should get to a blue screen that willask whether you want to format the hard disk. If you dont have a quick restore cd, you can use your windows XP cd (or any other OS cd). Stick it in the drive and restart your computer. You will be asked do you want to boot from cd? choose yes and you should eventually get to the blue screen I mentioned earlier. if that doesnt work, the cd drive is probably not the first boot device. to change that, restart your pc and before the OS logo loads, look out for text similar to "enter F8 to enter setup". hitting F* or Del repeatedly before the OS logo loads sometimes does the trick. there is a web service Meebo.com that allows you to sign in and use your existing im login and friends list. it doesn't replace all the various brands, but it does allow you to walk up to any pc and connect to the im that you normally use.

Trillian is a popular favorite. I don't use it %26 use Yahoo %26 AIM seperately. Trillian has a bad habit of not delivering messages to your friends, family, etc. I also like to use the colors on Yahoo %26 AIM, where on Trillian, you're stuck with basic Arial.

I can access my email inbox but when I click on a message to view the page wont load. When i search i get results but can load links i click. On yahoo news articles cants be loaded. On this web site i cant ask questions cause when i click submit, the page wont load. It only happens with things yahoo. Gooogle, msn, etc work fine. I have tried anti-virus, adware, spyware, and registry mechanic, although i doubt the problem is related to any of these things. I have also tried different web browsers. What's wrong with my computer?

Alright, my computer has been acting weird. All of the icons on my desktop either have the whole icon or just the text surrounded by blue. Whenever I'm on Firefox sometimes the page will switch itself over to an avertisement page. Usually when I get on I got into taskmanager and get rid of all the unneeded programs that are running. I'm pretty sure I have adware, too, since so many popups keep coming up when I'm on the web.

Run Defender and S%26D in safe mode. After that run msconfig if you are using XP (start --%26gt; run --%26gt; msconfig enter). Go to startup and remove any program that doesn't look critical to your daily operations. Good luck

You should get a firewall also, in addition to everyone elses suggestions. I would recommend a hardware firewall, but since you want free- I run Sygate Personal Firewall (currently owned by Symantec), and it doesnt come up on download.com any more since being bought out, but you can find it if you search around a little bit. And the best part is, its free and works great

They are using the messenger service on your computer to transmit the messages to you. click on "Start", then "Run". Type "services.msc" into the box (no quotes). In the window that pops up look for the "messenger" service. Double click on it and choose "disable". Hit OK and exit. The messages should stop.

Noises/Ads on my computer when nothing is open?

Okay, so i've been having a lot of trouble with my computer lately. Theres some kind of adware, malware on my computer that can't get fixed until this friday.

Every so often i'll get an erorr message saying "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." Then at the bottom it'll ask you so "Send erorr report or don't send"

Ok, due to your shorthand, I can't really understand what you are trying to say. Next time, don't type like you are text messaging. In your circumstance, try to backup the hard-drive and use computer recovery, if that's possible. It will take care of the problem 99% of the time should you have a programming error. Otherwise, your computer is probably fine. I've seen this happen before when hard-drives are either damaged or have been scrambled. So, like I said, backup the data and use computer recovery. You might need to reinstall some things though.

Down by my clock there is a Danger icon stating that my computor is infected with adware/spyware. I downloaded Privacy Crusader and it came back with a lot of problems and it quarentined them, Well its still saying that i'm infected. Is there anyway to stop this from happening? The icon down in the system tray is usually a sign of something called Spyware Sheriff, which is TRULY nasty -- the spyware and the removal program are written by the same company.

My computer a few days ago, with my non-updated mcafee security software, alerted me that spyware may be on the internet, which is my normal google homepage. So, it alerted me that spyware was on google. I thought it was the aim toolbar, because when i took it off, it went away. Now, my mcafee service needed to restart for an update like a month ago. I tried to restart but it failed, and now whenever I pressed fix, it said there was an error, we ignored this because our mcafee internet website scanner was still working. Now a couple of days ago, like tuesday or so, a trojan, i think a black or back door trojan was spotted in a popup, and it said to download software against spyware or adware....or something. My mom accidently downloaded this BESTSELLER antivirus but I removed it becuz it looked like a hoax. So now my mcafee is shut off and my internet and everything isnt working, should I get charter over here or what should I do? Please help me.

The computer seems to run fine until I open IE/Firefox and then performance is reduced drastically. I have checked for viruses/spyware/adware and can find nothing. Dell has told me nothing. The computer isn't that old.
