There are about 25 tracking cookies that won't go away, and a thing called "adware". I don't care whether they're a threat to my safety on the computer or not, I want them off!!!! How do I get them to go away? They're slowing down the internent and how fast things load...help?

Cookies are just small .txt (text) files that by themselves cannot hurt your computer. Cookies are "set" by almost every web-site that you visit, on every visit. You can delete all your cookies today and by tommorrow you will have dozens again.
You could have 50,000 cookies on your computer and it would not slow it down one bit!
They are not a virus or spyware, but some people consider "tracking" cookies to be an invasion of privacy.
Tracking cookies are mostly "3rd party cookies" from advertising servers. They can track your movements around the web in order to deliver to you customised, targeted advertising.
It all depends on one's level of paranoria.
If you are using Internet Explorer for a browser, you can permanantly block all 3rd party cookies. Go to tools %26gt; internet options %26gt; privacy %26gt; advanced %26gt; checkmark "override automatic cookie handling" %26gt; third party cookies %26gt; tick "block" %26gt; ok %26gt; ok.
