What can I do?

My computer is affected by virus or spyware or adware when I was on internet.When i gone to a website many blank windows appeared and then my computer stopped responding ,I feared very much and removed the plug.When I started computer again it was too slow,then I scanned the whole computer with norton anti virus but it's of no use.My computer takes more than 10min to open.It has become too slow,1month is over still this problem is not solved.

Is it really a virul activity?

Unfortunately, the only real solution here is to reformat your hard drive. Modern spyware is so sophisticated that you have no real chance of removing it. Even if you think you do, current rootkit technology means that you can *never* really be sure that you've removed everything.

1. You should first back up all the data you need onto CDs/DVDs.

2. You will then need to reinstall your operating system. Do this by inserting your operating system repair or reinstallation disk into the CD/DVD drive and rebooting.

3. Reinstall Windows (full, not repair).

4. Make sure you are using a NAT router if you have a broadband connection. If you put an unprotected computer on the internet it will be compromised in under 30 seconds.

5. Reinstall your programs and data.

6. Update your software with the latest security patches.

7. For future protection, do not browse the internet using Internet Explorer. Use Firefox or Opera.

Sounds like either a virus or a serious memory leak (bug in a program). If it's a virus I would suggest booting into safe mode by holding down F8 while Windows is loading then scan with Norton and/or remove any programs that you might have recently installed. If neither method is effective then you might need to reinstall Windows.
