I use Grisoft's AVG free version or Webroot's Spy Sweeper. Also try Windows Defender.
Ad-Aware and Spy Bot are considered the best. If you know what you are doing in Windows, you can use HijackThis! but you REALLY have to know what you are doing.

SPY BOT SEARCH AND DESTROY HAS DONE A VERY GOOD JOB FOR ME. ALSO YAHOO ANTI-SPY HAS REALLY FOUND A LOT OF SPY FOR ME. SPY BOT IS A FREE PROGRAM.
Try downloading Spybot S%26D and a little program called Ewido.

Install and update both of them.

Boot into safe mode by rebooting and press F8 until it gives you the option.

Run both programs. Anything they can't catch probably needs special instructions on how to remove it.
