an annoying toolbar appeared in my internet screen which tells me to block adware, and annoying things keep popping up telling me that i have spyware and to be their shields

how do i get rid of this!!

I would use a restore point to a time before the download. You can also do an Add/Remove through the control panel.

-Download and install Spybot S%26D

Reboot into safe mode with no networking (keep tapping f-8 before windows starts)

After running it and wiping out any malware switch to advanced mode and select settings. Select active X and then you will have the option of disabling your problem.
