I have norton spyware scan showes 27 spyware,says i dont have administative privledges, 2nd hand com

i bought this from someone who re-furbishes used computers. this is a gateway with windows 2000. when i try to remove the spyware and adware i get a message that says i dont have administrative priveledges to do so. i cant get in touch with the person i bought this off of. what settings do i change and how do i do it, as i am a novice at the technical stuff, please help asap, and, HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!!!!

If you don't have Admin rights I suggest you reinstall your operating system, so that you will be the Admin. Here you have some usefull instructions:

restart and run scan in safe mode (f8),

empty temporary internet files folder,

empty temp folder,

empty trash,
Try the safe mode thing but if it doesn't work try installing another user with admintrator privledges on the computer...

Ask whoever the administrator is to help you do so. If you are the only person who uses the computer,

Go to Control Panel

Open 'User Accounts'

Delete all the remaining accounts leaving only the Administrator.

Now you have Administrator privileges.
