My network connection on my PC has stopped working?

Its a laptop with Win.XP my son made a Linux boot disk to check the hardware and it worked, so network card is OK. Could some adware from the internet caused a problem, he also tried a system restore to an earlier date, but still no network comm.

There are many things to look at to see what the problem could be. I would start out by going to Start -%26gt; Connect To -%26gt; Show All Connections. Is your network connection enabled? Does it detect that a cable is plugged in? If you double click on your connection does it show the sent and received packets going up?

If your connection appears to be working, then something else is wrong. If you use DHCP, are you still able to get an IP address? You can check this by going Start-%26gt; Run-%26gt; type 'cmd' and hit ok. Type in 'ipconfig'. Any additional info you can include would be helpful. Good luck!

reboot
Check the Settings/Network dial-up settings/Local Connection first to make sure it is ENABLED in the Status column.

If it is, right click on the connection and select Repair.
Haha indd, internet bill. :p

Didn't you turn the device off?
