Noises/Ads on my computer when nothing is open?

PROBLEM #1

Okay, so i've been having a lot of trouble with my computer lately. Theres some kind of adware, malware on my computer that can't get fixed until this friday.

Every so often i'll get an erorr message saying "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." Then at the bottom it'll ask you so "Send erorr report or don't send"

#1. I dont use Internet Explorer

#2. The message comes up all the time, EVEN when i don't have any programs open.

PROBLEM #2.

Also, just a few minutes ago i was cleaning my living room and i starting hearing an ad on my computer for a skateboard company. I heard skateboard sounds and an ad for them. I go to my computer because I KNOW i don't have any programs running .. and sure enough, NOTHING is on my desktop, nothing is open.

What could these 2 problems be?
