Is there a website that can appraise my computer?

How can I appraise my computer? It's used but is fast and has lots of memory. Why recycle when I can make come money right? It's a PC with a 2.53 GHZ Pentium 4, 533 MHZ FSB, 60 GB Hard Drive and 516 RAM. Not bad right? It has been formatted and has been loaded up to orginal specs. It has Internet Explorer 7, WIndows XP Service Pack 2, reads PDF's, Windows Media 11, DVD and CD writer, harmon/kardon sound system, no adware, spyware, or viruses, etc...

516 RAM????????

Ballpark figure with a monitor, keyboard, plugs and software is about $150 - $250, dpending on what someone is willing to pay. The hard drive is actually small by todays standards.

You may want to see if you can trade up to more RAM and add a larger hard drive which would be a more realistic "now" system.

Since your going to be up against the more current dual core or duo core processors though, your only going to be able to eek out another $100 in retail value at best. That's why I said see if you can trade up to, rather than to outright buy, the RAM and the hard drive.

It would be worth around $150.00 not much more.. it is well out of date just like the one I am using right now, so the thing to do is dump windoz and load Linux on it, just see what you can do with that system... it will fly man, any version of Linux puts MS Vista pro in the dark ages...

the versions of linux to look at are

Fedora 8

Ubuntu 7.10

Opensuse 10.3

All are free to download with all the software you will ever need... or you can buy any version for under $3.00 for DVD's and $0.99 for CD's

check it out on youtube..search for linux vs vista. watch all the video clips
Your best bet would be to check eBay and see what similar computers are selling for.
its about $225 in parts check out pricewatch.com and it will sell on ebay for about that
450 bucks, max.
