well many saying about software remove or disable but many dint notice about the extra harddisk in your pc. Remove all non using harddisk and your computer boot time will be very quick. I have a fast computer and with empty harddisk i have 4 harddisk on EIDE and when i install windows, it take forever to load up to the start even just install windows as the computer take its time to scan the harddisk.

I removed the 3 extra harddisk and now the windows running around 5sec before it boot into windows where before it took around 1 min. Hope that helps...
if u are clean of ad/spy wares and viruses, then u might be running too much programs at startup. usually firewalls and anti-virus take up some time.

verify the programs that are run at startup.

take run,type msconfig.

if u r using xp, the msconfig may not work. in that case, download the "Startup Control Panel by mike lin. it will be very useful
dude you can speed your start up and shut down speeds in the bios but beware as it's a dangerous place to be lol, to complicated to describe so have fun arghaahaahhaaaaa
Do you have a Network card installed? That alone can add 40-45 seconds to the loading time.
try to delete program t( u don't need)hat load automatic when u turn on the pc.may b the reason that take longer to start than b4 is ur downloaded programs hav taken the action to start whenever u turn on ur pc that would let u access the program faster.
hi, perhaps there are virus in your computer, virus can slow your computer. perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.
