Gday to you all, to cut a long story short, connected to bigpond, 3 weeks later computer crashed , 1 week after that i find out that iwill have to pay $1000 in exsess use , what steps would you take to stop virus,adware, spyware and all the rest of the ************* from stealing from you, ANY ADVICE! is wellcome as i only just started using the internet and i dont want to get caught ever again , my email is leonardgid@yahoo.com.au for those that dont make it here, thank you all once again

Completely stop all viruses, adware, and spyware: switch to linux.
My advice is don't open any odd looking emails, make sure all software you install contains is trustworthy, don't go to porn sites (those are usually infested with viruses), get a firewall and anti-virus program. Also make sure you know how to use them, because if you don't they really are useless. It's like having a gun, but you don't know how to turn the safety off. I use Norton Anti-Virus and Zone Alarm Firewall, these work great. I 've been using them and haven't had one virus for more than a year or two.
