Yahoo messenger 8 totally ruined my PC?

I downloaded it because a friend of mine wanted to talk on there. After I realized how bad it was I went to uninstall it. After I hit the uninstall button everything froze the computer shut down and restarted by itself. After it came back on a lot of my desktop items where missing including my recycling bin this is the SAME exact thing that happen when I got a trjoan horse in my computer 2 years ago. Now of course I didn't think that Yahoo would infect my computer because its Yahoo why would they. But after that messenger kept popping up and I even went into the C:// drive and deleted the folder and its still there. And then I did system restoration so I can restore most of my programs and all the adware crap is still here. Any tips??

It sound like you did not get rid of all its components. Try going to search and enter yahoo. See how much still comes up.

Start deleting all that comes up.

Also click on start

click on run

click on msconfig

click on startup

then uncheck anything you do not wish to start up when your computer reboots.

Save what you asked it to do.

Then it will ask you to reboot.

If you accidently stop something you do not wish to stop then go back and change it. If you did not get the yahoo to stop then go back and recheck it.

I know I personally cannot stand yahoo 8 and that is how I got rid of it.

I then went to http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=... and from that sight I downloaded yahoo messenger that I like. Personally I like 6.0 and I know several people who also have gone back to that version.
