Virus problem?

I'm running windows 98 and have aquired a virus.

Have run Spybot,Adware,and Norton.but it's still there.

Will I have to reformate the drive.

Any help appreciated.

no, just have to find out what is running in the background.. boot to safe mode, and search for all exe files, anything is not a legi name, you can delete it ( or exe files with small byte size)

you may want to boot it up on safe mode, and scan with virus, spyware once again!

Without details, you can`t get much help. There are various kinds of viruses, with different effects or damages done.

First of all, are you really sure that your PC is infected with a virus? What`s the sign? As for Norton, have you downloaded the latest update? Unless you have critical data on your hard drive, reformatting is also a considerable option. But make sure you know what steps to take after that, including preventing future virus or adware infection.
The best thing to do is boot up in safe mode, find the virus, then delete it. that should solve the problem.
