Best free spyware protection?

what is the best free spyware protection out there that doesnt slow your computer down and give you full protection. I heard alot of people say either "Ad-Adware or Spybot" between those two or other which is better?

We put in Avast! a couple months ago and we haven't had any problems since. It's easy to use and really saved us a lot of time and aggravations. It's a system that they use at the local University. We are running it on all 3 computers.
Both ad-aware and spybot search and destroy is very excellent,but from my experience i noticed that spybot will detect sometimes many application u use as a spyware especially all shared or p2p programs like kazaa,edonkey,and imesh.....some times i feel it's not completely save with some applications,so u use ad-aware better as it's very intelligent.
This may seem complicated, but you are going to need both and maybe even a third spyware software.

Spyware software go by a signature file that tells them if your computer is infected or not.

They all do not share the same signature leaving some spyware undetected by one vendor and detected by the other. so if you are int he market for a spyware software get Ad-aware and Spybot. They are both free

It has good downloads to detect and eliminate virus/Trojans/spy ware
sopybot search and destroy is the best, run that in conjunction with avg or avast antivirus and you wont have to worry about anything. all free programs u can download from cnet
Spybot is better because it also offers immunization from spyware as well as remove them.
SUPER Anti-Spyware (free). More up to date than Spybot Search and Destroy. Even better than SpySweeper at finding some newer types of threats. Has real-time shields which don't cost anything.
Ad-Adware is the best because I use this.
